Cheshire have a very strong team and with home game advantage it is always going to be a tough match especially for our first Richardson Trophy game.
We left Durham in cool cloudy weather to find Cheshire in hot sunshine and a course that was baked hard. Sandiway GC is a hilly course to start with and with the hard ground there were a lot of harsh bounces and long runs, not always in the direction we wanted!
In the match, the Durham players fought hard but the Cheshire team proved too good and we lost 6-1. Karen and Rosie both managed a half in their matches to score the one point.
Well done Cheshire!
It was lovely to catch up with Barbara Laird (Mansfield) Vets Captain of Cheshire. Barbara used to be a member at Bishop Auckland and Brancepeth. Barbara and I were foursomes partners in county matches and had many happy games together at Brancepeth. A happy coincidence that we meet again as Vets Captains of our respective Counties!
Thank you to our team of Karen Lee, Lyn Davison, Susan Handley, Sarah Hirst, Marianne Moore, Ruth Lindley and myself Rosie Preston for doing our very best, a tough start. Thank you Gill and Anne for your support.
