Hello ladies and a Happy New Year to everyone.
I hope you all enjoyed the festive season but now the Christmas tree is down and the baubles are safely put away until next December, it’s time to get the diary out and plan our golf days for 2020. I know some of you won’t be getting your clubs out or even thinking about going to the course until it’s warmer, but a catch up over a cup of coffee with golfing pals to plan your golf days seems to shorten the winter months.
Posters for our events will be in your clubs at the end of January but we are also organising a couple of training days which may be of interest. The skills training day for handicaps of 11 and under which had to be cancelled due to bad weather is to be rearranged in March, date to be confirmed. Back due to popular demand are 2 coaching days at Cocken Lodge, Friday 27 March and Monday 30 March. Cost of these days is £20.00 excluding lunch and everyone is welcome. Please see website for further details. Our annual match against the County Seniors Men’s team is to be played on Saturday 25 April at South Shields G.C. If you would like to come along and support our team we will be pleased to see you.
The first competition is the ever popular the American Texas Scramble at Whitburn G.C. on Monday 27 April. Please enter the Silver Spring meeting on Monday 4 May at Brancepeth Castle G.C. and come along to see the semi and finals of the Championship. played on Thursday 7 May. The Spring Meeting for Bronze players is at Darlington G.C. on Friday 19 June, 12 players are chosen from the top 20 qualifiers to represent Durham to play against Cumbria and Northumberland. There’s a lovely atmosphere and all the players thoroughly enjoy the 4 ball matches.
That’s all from me for now apart from saying I’d like to wish you all good health and good golf in 2020. Keep checking our website for more news and I’ll look forward to seeing you all at our events during the coming season.
