As you will have seen from the home page, the silver team played their first Richardson Trophy match at Blackwell Grange Golf Club on the 7thJune against Cheshire. The team were:
Ruth Lindley (Durham Vets Champion 2019)
Reserve Helen Morgan
The weather threatened to soak us but luckily, we managed to get all of the games played before the heavens opened. The result of the match was a well fought half with each team earning 3 ½ points.
I would like to congratulate the whole team for a great result. Cheshire are a very strong County and on paper, it would be easy to say the odds were stacked against us however, the mighty Durham team did us proud and played their socks off, thank you all very much for your hard work and dedication. There was a positive “can do” team spirit which was lovely to see. A great result!
I would like to thank Blackwell Grange for presenting us with a course in tip top order. If you haven’t played Blackwell lately it is definitely worth a visit. I would also like to thank all those ladies who volunteered to caddie and to act as spotters on the course. Your help was really appreciated and you helped to make the day run smoothly. Finally, I would like to say thank you to all of you who sent your good wishes and who turned out to support our team. The team really appreciate it and I am sure you will have enjoyed the high standard of golf that you were treated to.
Our next Richardson Trophy match is on Monday 17thJune at Blackwell Grange Golf Club against Lancashire. The first tee time is 10.12am. Please check your busy diaries and see if you can come along to support our team. I can guarantee you will see some first-class golf and the team would love to see you there.
Hope to see you soon on a sunny fairway somewhere in Durham.
