WINDY DAY AT BILLINGHAM!
Today we held the Open Greensome competition at Billingham Golf Club. There was a large entry and lots of Durham clubs were represented. I spent the day on the registration desk and it was so nice to greet everyone as you signed in for the competition. There were lots of smiles and high hopes as everyone went out onto the course. It was absolutely boiling hot but the wind was blowing like crazy and playing conditions were very difficult. Surprisingly, as people came in off the golf course, they were telling me that they found the putting the most difficult part of the game.
The course looked lovely and I would also like to thank Billingham for their hospitality and the bar and catering staff for their great service during the day.
The results were as follows:
Best Gross Marianne Moore and Lyn Davison from Brancepeth with 85
Best Nett Helen Pickersgill and Carolyn Maxey from Blackwell Grange with 74.6
Second Nett Jennifer Dixon and Yvonne Dunbar from Brancepeth with 75.6
Third nett Barbara Hillier and Liz Musto from Ingleby Barwick with 76
Nearest the pin on hole 16 was Anne Ingham from Tyneside at 20ft 6inches
Well done to all of our winners and thanks you to all of the helpers who made the day run so smoothly.
Tomorrow the silver team travel to Ulverston GC to play against Cumbria on Wednesday. Good luck to the team for our last Richardson Trophy match.
Our next home event is the Bronze team match against Cumbria to be held at Blackwell Grange, Darlington on Monday 29thJuly. Good luck to our Bronze team. We are the current trophy holders for this tie so let’s try and retain the shield.
Hoping to see you all on a sunny fairway somewhere soon.
