Hello this is your new Captain Jennifer with my first blog.
It’s been a busy week! Last Monday our AGM was held at Brancepeth Castle G C and it was nice to see how many ladies attended . Thank you for all your kind wishes for the coming year. This Monday my first event was held at Beamish Park G C. I decided to bring forward our annual “Christmas Waltz” from December as it can be very cold and frosty and usually we only play 9 or 12 holes. With this in mind I decided October would be a good choice, to hold an “End of Season” event with a Halloween theme. But I didn’t dress up as a witch with a broomstick!
Invited to play are Past Presidents, Past Captains, Silver and Bronze Team players. We were extremely lucky with the weather, although it was very cold the sun shone for most of the day and we did play 18 holes, with the players saying how much they had enjoyed the course. A scheduled stop before playing the 13th hole for a “sloe gin” and our President Lesley Still providing us with a selection of Halloween treats was enjoyed by everyone. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Beamish for their hospitality and congratulate them on the presentation of the course following the constant rain over the last few days. Also to Neil and his team who provided us with a warming bowl of soup and sandwiches, just what we needed. Also to our Past Presidents Ruth Emeleus, Dorothy Harrison and Betty Staincliffe along with Durham County Vice Captain Chris Pascall who came and supported us. It was lovely to see you all.
The winners with a score of 69 points were
Chris Pullan, Aileen Carter and Helen Morgan.
2nd place winning on the back 9, with a score of 67 points were
Cathy Bowerbank, Julia Elliott and Joan Sanderson.
3rd place Anne Wraith, Heather Morgan and Di Spence.
Thanks to Claire Miller my Vice Captain and everyone who helped on the day.Our next event is the Coffee Morning at Brancepeth Castle G C on Friday 22nd November, please come along and bring a friend. That’s all for now. I’ll look forward to seeing you all again soon.
