Hello Ladies
I hope you and your families are all safe and well.
Sadly, we are in lockdown again. January has come and gone, now February is here, even if we have had what seems like continuous rain, we can look forward to the lighter nights. We may be unable to play golf, but I hope you are still managing to get a short walk or a little exercise each day. Hopefully we will benefit from the courses being closed and we’ll appreciate being able to play and seeing our friends even more, when we can get back on the fairways.
I’m sure we are all very encouraged by the incredible number of people who have already had their vaccination, it may still be sometime away for everyone to be vaccinated, before immunity is achieved and life will be more normal, whatever normal is.
On a more positive note, we hope to be able to run all our competitions in 2021, if we are allowed to do so. Our priority will always be the health and safety of all competitors and committee who run the competitions. In view of the uncertainty around and the possible restrictions that could still be in place in late April early May, (American Texas Scramble and the Silver Spring Meeting), your committee are delaying making any decisions, regarding these competitions until we have more information from the Government regarding COVID-19. Once we have an update from the Government, we can then decide on how to proceed with our programme of events. We have delayed our committee meeting until later this month to cover the situation.
Please remember the subscription you paid for 2020 has been carried forward to the 2021 season, of course if you would like to come and join us this season our Treasurer will happily take £5.00 from you. [New members can download an application form by clicking How to Join. Ed.]
Due to club closures could I ask each one of you to check the website regularly for updates and developments.
It’s not going to be an easy year for the officials and committee members. As you already know we have a vacancy for the position of Hon. Secretary and now unfortunately our Hon. Competition Secretary has resigned. So if anyone has a little time they can spare and would be interested in either vacancy, please contact me directly.
Just a reminder we are hosting the Northern Championship which is to be played at Bishop Auckland Golf Club on 18th until 20th May 2021. Entries are now starting to arrive, not many from Durham as yet. For more information about the competition, please see the NCVLGA website or our website where you will find an entry form. All entries to be sent to me.
